Target Candle Find!

I just purchased both of these from Target, and I'm in love!!

Recently I've been LOVING burning candles and Wax Burners. I've always been the Bath&Body Works lover because their scents actually smell like what it says. I could never find a candle from a store like Target or Walmart that didn't smell like crayons, so Bath&Body Works was my go to candle store. Until now!!

I recently purchased a wax burner from Target, which I use to melt the last little bit of wax from all of my B&BW candles. But, I decided I wanted to try the Wax Melts that were at target that went along with the Wax Burner I purchased. The brand is Chesapeake Bay Candle. Along with the wax melts they have corresponding candles, which I thought was really helpful in trying to choose which wax melt I wanted to purchase. I started smelling all the candles first and decided what scent I liked then chose the wax melt. These wax melts only cost around $5.oo!

I love clean, fresh, floral scents; especially for my living room. This candle really stood out to me among the huge wall of candles, One, because of the packaging, and two, because of the name. I absolutely LOVED all of the scents in this line. They are all very fresh and clean, as well as true to what they say they smell like!
This one is a fairly large 3 wick candles, but they also have single wick candles in the same scents! The 3 wick candles are almost $11 and the single wick are around $6! That is an awesome deal compared to Bath&Body Works Candles.

This candle almost immediately changed the scent in my living room when I lit it. The scent is definitely strong, but not overpowering. Leaving your livingroom fresh and smelling like Magnolias!! <3

How to: Using Coconut Oil Everyday

Coconut oil is obviously a HUGE trend recently, but a lot of people are still nervous to try coconut oil in their everyday life! I was definitely one of those people for a long time. I was most hesitant to use it in my cooking, because I didn't want it to alter the flavor of my dishes. I really dislike most coconut flavored things, so I thought by adding it to my food would ruin the flavors I love. I was WRONG!!

It's all about the kind of coconut oil you buy!!
Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil is ideal for cooking and baking because it has a mild neutral flavor. I've been using this oil for about 4 months, replacing ALL my cooking and baking oils, and I can never taste a coconut flavor in my foods.
Another great thing about replacing your cooking oils with coconut oil is that there is no ratio change! Just use the same amount of coconut oil as you would any other oils! So no difficult math! ;)

I recently made box brownies using Coconut oil instead of Vegetable oil, and they came out perfect! No weird coconut flavor, no change in texture, just yummy creamy brownies!!

What are the benefits of using coconut oil instead?

There are obviously COUNTLESS things you can use coconut oil for other than baking, but here are some that I really LOVE!

  • DIY Hair Mask - This is great for girls who want an inexpensive hydrating and repairing hair treatment! Liquefy the coconut oil by popping it in the microwave or hot water, then apply all over hair and scalp! Leave it on for an hour, then wash it out! This leaves your hair silky, shiny, and healthy!
  • Body Moisturizer - Rub coconut oil all over your skin for a healthy moisturized glow!
  • DIY Lip Balm - Now, there are a MILLION different ways you can make coconut lip balm, but i just prefer straight out of the jar onto my lips! But, you can put it in a pot with some added coloring or essential oils to carry around with you!
  • Makeup remover! - This is a great alternative to store bought makeup removers! Take a small amount on your fingers, massage it onto your eyelids and lashes, and then wipe away all the gunk!! Viola!
  • Oil Pulling - This is starting to become a popular craze. Basically you swish oil in your mouth for 5-20 minutes then spit it out. This is supposed to help strengthen teeth and jaws, prevent mouth diseases, prevent bad breath, as well as a million other different things! I have not yet tried this, but I've been very curious! With some more research I think I may just try it out!!

Tips for Growing Healthy Hair:

Using the right products is the main key to having healthy hair. If you have short hair or long hair, using products that promote strength and growth is the key to happy healthy hair.

It all starts with what you use in the shower!!

Using Paraben-Free shampoo is so important! I love this shampoo by MATRIX BIOLAGE. This is the Color Care Shampoo, great for color treated hair like mine! I highly recommend this shampoo line to EVERYONE!

Use a good hydrating conditioner! I love this Organix Argan Oil Conditioner. This is a great conditioner for dry, breaking hair. This conditioner is very thick and makes my hair soft and restores shine!

Shower Rules:
  1. Start scrubbing from bottom to top - By starting at the nape of the neck and working up, I found it gives me more volume in the end!
  2. Use cool water! - When you rinse your hair, make sure you are using very cool water! When you use hot water, your hair shaft opens, just like pores do, allowing more breakage and does not leave your hair smooth and shiny.
  3. Let your conditioner sit! After applying conditioner, let it sit on your hair for about 5 minutes while you do other things! This will really give it time to sink in!
  4. Do NOT twist&squeeze your hair to remove water! When your all done washing and conditioning, a light squeeze to get the excess water out will do! By twisting, pulling & squeezing you're just adding more strain on your delicate wet hair.
After Care:

Every time I get out of the shower I always do a few things to my hair before I let it air dry..

After I get out of the shower I usually put my hair up in a towel for just a few minutes, then take it down and spray in my "It's a 10 - Leave-in Product"  This is an absolute MUST for me. This helps detangle my hair as well as other added benefits like heat protection and shine.

I ALWAYS use a comb on wet hair. This is very important to help reduce breakage or stretching of your hair.

After I've combed through my hair I spray my ends with the "Organix Keratin Oil" This has done WONDERS to my hair. I can tell a huge difference in my ends when I haven't used it! It helps repair split ends and keeps my hair looking and feeling SO healthy!!

If I feel like my hair is extra dry on the ends I will use a small amount of my "Josie Maran Argan Oil" I just put a small amount in my hands and run it through my ends for some added hydration! This oil can also be used all over the body and face!!

Before styling my hair, I always try to let it air dry about 60% before using any kind of Hot Tools on it. I always just use a hair dryer to blow out my hair straight. I try to only use 1 hot tool on my hair a day. This really helps me with controlling damage.

I've been using permanent color on my hair for many years now, but I've always managed to keep my hair as healthy as possible. Even going from a bleach blonde to a very black.
Here are some photos of my hair throughout the years!!

Peachy Keen

I've never been a fan of e.l.f products, just because I've never found any that are good quality or give me the color payoff that I wanted.. until now!!

I've had this blush in my makeup drawer for years and never really used it because it didn't give me any color pay off. It was actually one of the first blushes I ever purchased! I used to be very afraid of blush because I have naturally red pigment in my cheeks that I try hard to cover, so in my teenage mind, covering up redness then adding color back on top was kind of silly. But now that I'm older, I decided to give this blush a second chance..

I love glowing dewy skin during the spring and summer months, so highlighting and bronzing have become a real staple in my every day makeup routine. The only thing I was missing was a great blush to pull it all together. I remembered not liking this blush because I never got any pigment but I decided to try it.

I found that these blushes have a very hard top layer, the  first few uses it is very difficult to get the desired pigmentation. But after you break through that top layer, this blush gave me the exact look I was going for!

 DUPE for NARS Luster!!

I love placing this blush on the backs of my cheeks and pairing it with my Benefit Hula Bronzer and Benefit Wat's Up highlighter!! This combo gives me the perfect summer sun kissed glow everyone wants!! This is a quick and easy look that I know I'll be rocking all summer! Throw on some BB-Cream, Peechy Keen Blush, Hula Bronzer, Highlighter, and some mascara!
The perfect beachy sun kissed glow!! <3

Beauty Blender Dupe!

I jumped on the Beauty Blender train when it first came out quite a few years ago. Sponges have always been a popular way of applying foundation, but the Beauty Blender changed the game! The Beauty Blender is sold at Sephora as well as other popular beauty stores. They run about $20.00 for ONE sponge!! But, before other companies started making similar products, twenty bucks was so worth it!

The Beauty Blender changed my foundation application drastically! Applying foundation was so much easier, and flawless. The Beauty Blender blends the foundation in seamlessly and creates the perfect finish on the skin!

^^Obviously I've used the crap out of mine^^

So, I was using the Beauty Blender for about a 2 years, before other companies started manufacturing similar sponges. Many of the sponges that are being made are TERRIBLE! Nothing had compared to the Beauty Blender, UNTIL....The Precision Blending Sponge (Found at Marshall's & TJMaxx)

Most of the sponges that are being made are a very different shape and texture. Most are much denser, and very uncomfortable to use on your skin.

Most of the sponges that are claiming to be dupes for the Beauty Blender are shaped like an hourglass.. BEWARE! These are NOT the ones you want to purchase!! They are very stiff and do not apply foundation evenly.

Many people bought these and have said they are a great sponge, but they have not tried the Beauty Blender or the Precision Blending Sponge that is not in this hourglass shape.

Now, the maker of the Precision Blending Sponge makes a few different types of sponges. The majority of their sponges are in the hourglass shape.. STAY AWAY! Those are the ones you want to avoid. The only sponge that is worth the purchase is the sponge that is in the EGG shape!!

This product is a TOTAL DUPE for the Beauty Blender and rings up around $6!!! That's about a third of the price of the Beauty Blender!
These sponges are sometimes hard to find, but I recommend checking Marshall's and TJMaxx. If you can't find it, just keep checking back! It took me a couple tries to find this sponge at Marshall's.
Don't be tempted to buy the hourglass shaped sponges!!

The Precision Blending Sponge in my opinion is the exact same, or even a little BETTER than the Beauty Blender! The application is seamless and leaves a perfect glowing finish to your skin!

TIPS:
  • Don't forget to WET your Sponge before using it! It will come very small and dry, but after your run it under cool water and squeeze out the excess water, it will double in size and become bouncy!

  • Using a damp sponge is very beneficial to those with dry skin as well!! It helps calm and smooth the dry skin.

  • When using the Beauty Blender or the Precision Beauty Sponge, always remember to use bouncing motions to apply foundation. Rubbing and swirling WILL NOT WORK! Bounce the sponge up and down, all over the face, until the foundation is spread evenly!

  • The Sponges come with two different ends, one larger for bigger areas of the face, and a pointed end for blending in small areas such as under the eyes and around the nose!

  5. Fresh Picked Hand Cream - First Bloom (Bath&Body Works)- I have really dry hands, so carrying a hand cream really comes in handy! I love using fresh scents that give lots of moisture, rather than a harsh perfume scent.

  7. Vanilla & Macadamia Kiss Lip Butter (Target)- Lips are so important during the summer! I love carrying these lip butters for maximum hydration to help prevent burning my lips!

  11. Tide To Go Instant Stain Remover (Target) - I absolutely love these! At first I was a skeptic but they really do help! It doesn't completely get rid of any stains I've had, but It has reduced the size to less noticeable! Great for on the go accidents!
  12. Hair Ties and Bobby-Pins - Who doesn't need those in the summer time? Always good to have some handy for you or a friend!
  13. Soft Hair Ties! - These are great for putting your hair up in the car when you have the windows down. They won't leave a crease in your hair, but they keep your hair out of your face!

Here is my favorite bag to carry in the Spring & Summer!

Spice up your BURGERS:

Who doesn't love a good burger?

Burgers are a food you can customize to your liking, or just stick with the classics. I love grilling and cooking with the BBQ and we just recently got a brand new one! I was so excited to start grilling!

Burgers are an essential in our house hold. They are easy to make, and usually you always have the ingredients you need.

I'm sure everyone knows how to make a burger, so I won't write it all out, but I just wanted to give you some different ideas to spice up your next homemade burger!

TIPS FOR A FLAVORFUL BURGER:

  • Seasonings are SO important! If you are using the store bought frozen patties or making your own patties, seasonings are the key to a juicy flavorful burger. Obviously the basic Salt & Pepper are great, but using things like Garlic Powder, Steak Seasoning, and Spicy Pepper Flake Seasoning will really step up the flavor of your patty!
  • Try something other than Mayo! I love using dressings. If you like a kick to your burger I love the Hidden Valley - Southwest Chipotle Dressing! It gives great flavor and an added KICK!
  • Blue Cheese is also a great dressing to try out instead of MAYO! It gives your burger a rich, creamy, cheesy taste!
  • Try different Buns! The standard burger bun can get a little boring, so try out some different kinds of bread! I love Potato Buns, Pretzel Buns, & Kaiser Buns!
  • Load on the fresh Veggies! Pairing your rich cheesy flavorful patty with some fresh crunchy veggies is what makes a burger, a burger! I love fresh Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, & Crunchy Pickles! Don't cheat yourself on getting in some good veggies! Pile them on to give your burger some balance!

What's a burger without great sides?
Kettle Brand Potato Chips came out with some new flavors that are to die for!!

Going Out?:
If making your burgers at home isn't your thing, and you would rather have someone else make it for you, I HIGHLY recommend The RAM Brewery. They have 22 different kinds of burgers, Freshly Brewed Beer, and great deserts! It definitely gets 5 Stars in my book! My personal favorite off the menu is the Stadium Burger... YUM!

Mom's Spanish Green Beans:

This is such a simple and quick dinner that uses ingredients that you probably already have! My mother made this while I was growing up, and it was always one of my favorites! I've been researching this recipe and I haven't found any that are made the same as this one.

Now, I admit this is NOT the most aesthetically pleasing dish to look at, but the flavors of the dish are amazing!!

This is a really hearty, delicious, meal that is quick to prepare! Great for moms who have a lot of people to feed, or students who need something quick and easy that still tastes like your mom made it!
Enjoy!! <3

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Ground Hamburger
  • 1 Can Green Beans(Drained)
  • 1 Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 6oz. Can Tomato Paste
  • Sugar to taste (about a tablespoon)
  • Salt&Pepper
  • Garlic Powder
  • Spicy Seasoning (optional)
  • Mashed Potatoes

Total Cooking Time: 15-20 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Start by browning your hamburger in a 10" x 2" skillet on Med-High heat. Season your hamburger with Salt&Pepper, Garlic & Spicy seasoning.
  2. After your hamburger is completely cooked, reduce heat to Medium.
  3. Add in tomato sauce and tomato paste. Stir
  4. The sauce will be very bitter because of the tomato paste, so add sugar until the sauce is not bitter. Start with a teaspoon, stir, taste, add more as needed. (I usually use about a tablespoon)
  5. Add in drained green beans. Stir
  6. Let simmer on Low-Med Heat for 10-15 mins, or until green beans are piping hot.
  7. Serve over mashed potatoes.
Tips:
  • Any time I cook hamburger, no matter what I'm cooking, I ALWAYS use these seasonings! They give the hamburger a great flavor!
  • For quick and easy mashed potatoes I love using the Idahoan Instant mashed potatoes.
  • You can use fresh green beans instead of canned, just be sure to cook them first!
  • This makes great leftovers!

Clarisonic Mia 2:

Is the Clarisonic worth the hype? Or are there other products that work just as well?

If you're not familiar with the Clarisonic, well you may be living under a rock...
__________________________________________________________________________________

What is Clarisonic?

Clarisonic is a very well known company who has designed cleansing devices that have been quite popular for a few years now. They have 5 different devices, but the one I'm going to be talking about today is the Clarisonic Mia 2.

Now, a lot of people have jumped on the Clarisonic band wagon, but some people are still on the fence about purchasing something so expensive to do a simple task like washing your face. Since the Clarisonic came out, a lot of other brands have been making very similar devices for a cheaper price, but are those really the same as the Clarisonic?

You can purchase the Clarisonic Mia 2 at a variety of different stores now, but I still recommend buying it straight from the Clarisonic web site. Along with getting a great cleansing device you also get to chose from a ton of different colors and patterns! But, of course with options comes more $$$!

The Standard Clarisonic Mia 2 colors cost $150, but some of the other colors or patterns cost $159.

I used to work in the drug store, so I experienced first hand the hardships people had with trying to decide whether to purchase the Clarisonic or one of the cheaper alternative versions. Drug Store Brands such as Olay, and No7 came out with similar brushes about a year ago and many people have found them to be satisfying. The only thing is, those people haven't even tried the Clarisonic!
______________________________________________________________________

Here's what Clarisonic's website says about the Mia 2...

"Cleansing is the essential first step in a healthy skin care ritual. The patented Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Brush uses a sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to deeply cleanse the skin far more effectively, yet more gently, than traditional superficial cleansing or simple rotating brushes. The result is noticeably smoother, more radiant skin."

My Experience:

The Mia 2 completely changed my skincare routine! I've been using the Clarisonic for almost 3 years now and I can't get enough! I have dry/sensitive skin but I still use my Clarisonic EVERY night! Some people use it every other night, or just once a week. You really just have to test it out and see how your skin reacts.
Testing out the Clarisonic takes about 2 months. The first month, all most everyone's skin will become worse. Now, I know this sounds horrible but the Clarisonic is PULLING all of the impurities out of your skin that have been built up over the years. I call it "Purging". Throughout that process it's very important to KEEP USING your Clarisonic! After that stage was over, my skin was changed forever! The Clarisonic makes my skin feel and look smoother as well as helped with keeping breakouts under control. Now, I'm not saying this will make you never ever have a breakout again, it just helps in deep cleansing and purifying your skin in hopes to REDUCE your breakouts.

What comes with the Mia 2?
  • Clarisonic Device
  • Sensitive Brush Head
  • Charger
  • Protective Plastic Case
  • Travel Size Clarisonic Cleanser
  • 2 Year Warranty

Tips:
  • Figure out what skin type you have FIRST!
  • Chose the right brush head! There are 5 different brush heads you can purchase, so chose which one is right for you!!
  • When starting off, use a GENTLE cleanser!
  • After using the device make sure you are putting good things back into your skin! Moisturizers and serums are SO important!
  • Only use the Clarisonic as much as your skin can handle. Over exfoliation can lead to problems such as, irritation or drying of the skin.
  • Be Patient! Having great skin takes time!

Final Thoughts?

If you're someone who is unsure about purchasing something like this, I would say try the drug store versions FIRST. If you enjoy those then move up to the Clarisonic. But if you're like me, I knew I was going to love the Clarisonic. If you're struggling with blemishes or if you feel your skin isn't getting clean enough just with your hands, I highly recommend the Mia 2.

I always recommend doing a lot of research on products you want to purchase. The beauty of the Internet is that there are tons of people just like YOU that have helpful tips, tricks, and comments about any product on the market!

Visit www.Clarisonic.com to check it out!

10 Date Night/Weekend Ideas [Washington Ideas Included!]

After being in a relationship for a while or even in a new relationship, it's really difficult to keep things interesting and think of new things to try together. It is really easy to get into a routine, so it is super important to explore and try new things as a couple!

We live in Washington, in Pierce County, so I will include some local ideas we really enjoy! We just recently moved to Washington from Oregon, so finding things to do has been a challenge without knowing where we are!
____________________________________________

Before I start slinging around ideas, there are somethings that are SUPER important that should be said.

1. Always go into an activity or date with an open mind! It's so important to do this because no one wants to go on a date with someone with a bad attitude!

2. Make sure it's something you BOTH want to do. If one person wants to do something but the other person doesn't...well that usually doesn't work out...

Exhibit A:

Girls, just because YOU think something is fun, doesn't mean you man will think it is! Don't submit yourself to the complaining and agony of trying to make your boyfriend do something that he hates...
Although I know he really did enjoy this ;)

^ This is his "I'm Miserable" Face ^

_________________________________________________________________

Date Ideas!

1. Exercise
  • Scenic Walk/Hike - Grab your water and sneakers! Find a great mountain or forest and take a hike! (A great mountain in the Washington area is Tiger Mountain, great for hiking and trails!)
  • Local Gym - We live in an apartment, so we have a gym in our complex we love to go to together, but you can go to a very small local gym and get a membership for really cheap!
  • Trampoline Nation! - This is obviously for the young at heart, but it's a great way to burn some calories. It's a big room full of trampolines! This is in Federal Way, WA. But there are similar types of places all over! (Check your local areas!)
2. Find Something you both are interested in!
  • Go to a Car show! - Car shows are really popular during the Spring and Summer months and usually free or a small fee to enter!
  • Car races - Races are always fun and usually fairly cheap. You can also get dinner and desert right at the track!
  • Dirt Bikes - Go to a bike shop and look around at all the new bikes, or go to a race! (Seattle Supercross is coming up in April!)
  • Music - We both really love music and since we are close to a lot of different venues that hold concerts, we love to go watch! You can get nose bleed tickets for cheap online on ticketmaster.com. The Tacoma Dome, The Puyallup Fair, and local business always have really great concerts in the Washington area.
3. Classic Dinner & Movie
  • Groupon - If you haven't heard of GROUPON you need to check it out!! They have great coupons for restaurants and you can specify your location and get great deals in your area!
  • Try a new Restaurant! - We LOVE food, so trying new restaurants is a must!
  • Go out for desert instead! - To save money, going out for desert is a great choice! Make dinner at home, then go out for desert!

4. Go to a Museum
  • For the more curious couple, museums are so fun! We love learning new things and seeing authentic pieces of history!
  • Museums are usually cheap and there is a museum for EVERYTHING, so no need to be bored with a generic historic museum.
  • EMP Museum - We LOVE the EMP! It is located in Seattle and has tons of Media/Music/Movie things inside! 3 levels of awesome movie props, musician memorabilia, and Media throughout history. Great for the movie/media buff couples!

5. Beach/Outdoors
  • Hiking - Find a great mountain and explore it together!
  • Coastal Beaches! - We absolutely love the coast. It is one of our favorite places to be! We love walking the beach and looking at all the touristy trinket shops along the way! (We love the Oregon Coast as well as Ocean Shores in WA)
  • GROUPON - Groupon has great deals on Beach front hotels and cottages! Getting a hotel on the beach can be expensive, so look around for coupons!
6. Go to a Different City for the Weekend!
  • Pick 3 - For a cheaper way to discover some new things in the city, start by looking online together! Pick 3 activities you KNOW you want to do and budget for those 3 activities! (Planning usually always makes a trip go a little smoother!)
  • GROUPON - Like I've been saying, Groupon has TONS of discounts on hotels all over the map!
  • We LOVE going to Seattle. There is so much to do, and it's a great way to get out and see some diversity!
7. Go to the Zoo!
  • Most cities have a Zoo close by. It's a fun way to get outside and see some cool animals!
  • Rainy Day Discount - At our local zoo there is a "Rainy Day Discount" so if it's drizzling outside you get a discount on your admission! Check with your local zoo and see if they have something similar!
  • Most Zoos/Wildlife Parks have food as well! So you can eat a cheap meal, get desert, and look at animals all in one stop!
  • Picture Booth! -  Most parks also have pictures booths! These are always fun and a great way to keep the memories!
8. Netflix Marathon!
  • Pick a Show! -  Pick a show you both have never seen and watch 2-3 episodes together when you have time! This is a great way to just relax and watch TV without fighting over what to watch!
  • POPCORN -  Pop some popcorn get some drinks and sit, relax, and enjoy each others company!
9. Go Camping
  • Now, I know camping isn't for everyone, but it is so much fun! Even if you are staying for just 1 night!
  • Sleep in the truck bed! - If you're not into sleeping in a tent, or its raining; but your man has a truck with a canopy.. Sleep in the bed! We love doing this! It's a great way to stay dry! Make a comfy bed in the bed of the truck with lots of blankets and pillows!
  • Bonfire - Have a bonfire! Get cuddled up and roast some marshmallows together!
10. Go House Hunting!
  • We recently just did this and it was a blast! We got the notice that it was time to re-sign our lease at our current apartment and we thought, lets just look at some cute houses!
  • Start out online! - We love looking a Craigslist.org and finding house we want to look at. Write down the address, grab some coffee and go look at a bunch of houses!
  • It's always fun to plan for the future! Doing this together can give each other a better idea of what you're looking for when you do decide to move into a home!

Hope you enjoyed today's post!
Go have fun with your HONEY! <3
